On Wednesday, May 13, the Pennsylvania National Guard Association and the Pennsylvania Veterans Business Network are bringing together veteran-owned businesses from across the Pittsburgh region for an evening of straight-talk networking at VFW Post 764 in McMurray. Show up. Eat something. Leave with relationships you can actually use on Monday.

Why this room is different

Most networking events are a lot of business cards and not much else. This one is built for the veteran business community in southwestern Pennsylvania, by people who understand what that actually means.

A room of veterans

Everyone in the room has served. That shared foundation skips the small talk and gets you faster to the kind of conversation that actually moves your business forward.

Built for the western PA market

Founders, operators, and mentors from across the Pittsburgh region in one place. The connections that turn into referrals, partnerships, and customers usually live within a 30-mile drive.

Direct line to state resources

Pennsylvania's Deputy Adjutant General for Veterans Affairs will speak to the contracting set-asides, certifications, and programs specifically available to veteran-owned businesses in the Commonwealth.

Featured guest: Maureen Weigl

Maureen Weigl serves as the Deputy Adjutant General for Veterans Affairs, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania — the state office responsible for advocating across agencies for the programs, benefits, and economic opportunities available to Pennsylvania's veterans and their families.

She will speak briefly to what is available specifically for veteran-owned businesses in the Commonwealth — set-asides, certifications, contracting pathways — then stay to take questions one-on-one.

The room is built for veteran entrepreneurs, but service-disabled veterans working toward SDVOSB certification, transitioning service members planning their next chapter, and veterans considering business ownership are equally welcome.

Bring business cards if you have them. Bring a friend who fits the description. Bring questions for the room — somebody almost certainly has the answer.
