This year's highlight is guest speaker John "Tig" Tiegen – a former Marine Sergeant from 3rd Battalion 7th Marines India Company, Infantry Squad Leader hailing from Colorado. With years as a security contractor for Blackwater on high-stakes missions in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq, he later joined the CIA's Global Response Staff, completing over 40 deployments in high-threat environments worldwide. Quiet and precise, this married father of twins was the most experienced Annex Security Team member during his third trip to Benghazi, Libya. When the terrorist attack struck on September 11, 2012, Tig and his team fought relentlessly for over 13 hours, directly saving numerous lives on his team and playing a pivotal role in rescuing over two dozen others. Honored with the Award for Heroism and Valor for his extraordinary bravery, Tig co-authored the New York Times bestseller "13 Hours" alongside his Annex Security Team members and author Mitchell Zuckoff. He also consulted on the film "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi," contributing to set design and the script to bring the story to life.
